Student email is not required
Students enter a teacher-provided class code and an assigned PIN. They do not need to provide an email address to use the student portions of the classroom tools.
Privacy at My Class Place
Classroom information should stay focused on the classroom.
My Class Place is designed to help teachers organize classroom routines without requiring students to create email-based accounts. This page explains what information the service uses, why it is needed, and the choices teachers have over their classroom records.
Teachers control their classes
Teachers create classes, add or remove students, manage classroom sessions, and decide when a student or public display should be available.
Payments stay with PayPal
Subscription payments are processed through PayPal. My Class Place does not ask teachers to enter or store a full credit-card number on the My Class Place website.
Information used for teacher accounts
My Class Place uses the information needed to create, verify, secure, and manage a teacher account. Depending on the action being completed, this may include:
- The teacher’s name and email address.
- A securely stored password representation rather than a readable password.
- Email-verification and password-reset information.
- Account type, trial or subscription status, access dates, and administrative account settings.
- Basic security and activity information used to protect accounts and document important administrative changes.
Information used for classroom tools
Teachers may enter classroom information so the tools can work. This can include class names, student names, student PINs, assigned markers, visual schedules, teacher-uploaded images, classroom prompts, request types, challenge information, points, badges, and session records.
Teachers should enter only the student information reasonably necessary to use the selected tool. My Class Place is not intended to be a student information system, special-education record system, medical record system, or place to store confidential case notes.
A good rule: If information does not help the classroom tool do its job, it probably does not need to be entered. The software does not need a student’s life story to move a shape across a board.
How information is used
- To provide the teacher, student, and public-display functions selected by the teacher.
- To keep class rosters and student access connected across the available tools.
- To save classroom sessions, schedules, histories, scores, or settings when the tool offers that feature.
- To verify accounts, deliver password-reset messages, and provide service-related account communication.
- To process and maintain subscription access through PayPal.
- To prevent misuse, investigate errors, and protect the website and its users.
Public displays are separate from teacher controls
Several tools include a public classroom display that a teacher may project or open on another screen. Public displays are designed to show only the information needed for the activity. Teacher controls, account settings, and administrative pages are not intended to appear on those displays.
Teachers remain responsible for deciding when and where to open a public display and for reviewing classroom names, prompts, schedule labels, images, and other content before projecting it.
Retention, exports, and deletion
Some tools save sessions or histories so teachers can review or download classroom results. Retention periods may differ by tool. Where a tool provides delete, archive, reset, or export controls, teachers can use those controls to manage their records.
Deleting a class or classroom record may permanently remove associated information and may not be reversible. Teachers should download anything they are required to keep before deleting it. Account or privacy questions can also be sent through the site’s contact method.
Sharing and advertising
My Class Place is built as a classroom-tool subscription service, not an advertising profile for students. Student roster information is not collected for the purpose of serving behavioral advertising.
Information may be handled by service providers that are necessary to operate the website, such as website hosting, email delivery, and PayPal payment processing. Those services receive only the information involved in providing their function.
Teacher and school responsibilities
Teachers and schools are responsible for deciding whether My Class Place is appropriate under their local policies, contracts, parent-notice requirements, and student-data procedures. A teacher should not enter information that the teacher or school is not authorized to use in the service.
My Class Place does not replace a school’s required records, emergency procedures, accessibility planning, or professional judgment.
Questions or correction requests
Teachers may use their account and class-management controls to update many records directly. For questions about privacy, account information, or a record that cannot be corrected through the website, please use the contact information provided by My Class Place.
